Hey everyone!! Welcome to the Backwoods Rose Boutique. I'm Amanda, but most everyone knows me as Mandy. I am the owner of the Backwoods Rose Boutique. I am a stay at home mom to some wonderful children. I began the Backwoods to allow me to help our family while taking care of our BJ, who was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 a month or so after he was born. It was also designed to help take my mind off of the diagnosis as well. SMA is a genetic neuromuscular disease. Before the Backwoods, I was a SPED teacher. The doctors and hospitals didn't give us much hope when it came to BJ's life span and told us to take him home and love him and that children with SMA usually do not make it to the age of 1. I stopped working in the classroom, and we focused our time to him. He is 8 years old now!! I love being able to work from home and spend my days with him.
